Egypt launches first low-cost airline

The OptionTrip reports that in this winter the Egyptian national carrier EgyptAir will launch a new low-cost airline – Air Sphinx.

The airline that should become the first low-cost airline in the history of Egypt.

Tourists were informed about this at a high level – the information was announced at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. Including scheduled flights from Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada, target markets have not yet been specified.

“The Cabinet of Ministers was informed about the preparation of the Ministry of Civil Aviation for the creation of the low-cost airline Air Sphinx in order to increase the number of tourists arriving in Egypt from different countries,” the report says. According to the information provided, the low-cost airline will fly from Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, as well as Luxor and the Sphinx International Airport in Giza. Air Sphinx is expected to “operate both domestic and international flights in an effort to provide competitively priced tickets for more affordable travel opportunities,” Egyptian media said.
