Option Trip is delighted to announce that the budget airline Wiz Air is set to introduce its new Airbus A321XLR planes into its operations in Abu Dhabi, aiming to open new travel routes up to 8 hours away from the city. This initiative will enhance connections between Abu Dhabi and key destinations across Western Europe.

Option Trip – Wiz Air, known for its low-cost model, will focus on offering economy class seating without additional luxuries, distinguishing itself from traditional full-service airlines.

According to CEO Joe Jeff Fara, price remains the top priority for travelers, even on longer routes. He noted that demand for budget-friendly flights, such as those between London and Jeddah, has been stronger than expected. Fara believes that passengers are increasingly opting for affordability over comfort, allowing them to travel more frequently.

In partnership with Abu Dhabi’s ADQ, Wiz Air will begin basing its new XLR jets by 2026. These aircraft will be equipped with specialized engines designed to handle the hot weather conditions of the region, marking a significant milestone for the airline.

Like many low-cost carriers, Wiz Air offers very low base fares but applies additional fees for various services that some travelers might expect to be included in standard fares. These fees are not hidden, but they can increase the total cost if travelers are not aware of them.

Common Additional Charges Include:

  • Checked Baggage Fees: Charges vary by route and weight of luggage. Some fares only allow for a small personal item, with carry-on and checked bags costing extra.
  • Seat Selection: If you wish to choose a specific seat, especially for more legroom or to sit together with a companion, an additional fee will apply.
  • Priority Boarding: Allows you to board the plane first and take a larger cabin bag onboard, which comes at an extra cost.
  • Airport Check-In Fees: A fee may be charged if you check in at the airport rather than online before your flight.
  • Flight Changes: Modifying a booking, such as changing dates or names, usually incurs additional fees.
  • Onboard Food and Drinks: Refreshments are not included and must be purchased separately.

Overall, Wiz Air continues to focus on accessibility and price competitiveness while introducing new technologies and enhancements to its fleet, ensuring that passengers enjoy the necessary flexibility for their travel plans.
